Albums

I am very excited to have completed my 3rd album! Working on writing these new songs has been such a great process for me. It has been fun to challenge myself and try new things. I also am discovering more of my niche and the art God has given me... becoming more of myself rather than trying to fit the mold of what I think a ‘Christian artist’ should be and sound like.

These songs really reflect my life over the past 2 years. These have been my prayers and embody many of the lessons God has been teaching me. There is an honesty and an abandon with my writing that I hope only continues to grow and develop in time.

In addition, I am re-recording one song from my album, Awaken the Dawn, that I use often when I minister in churches. I have seen God move and touch hearts through this song and desire for this to continue. My biggest goal with this new project is to be faithful with all that God has given me. I want this album to bring Him great glory and to be a very useful tool in His hands.

As I was praying for direction with the project God lead me to this scripture repeatedly: 2 Corinthians 8:10-12, “It would be good for you to finish what you started a year ago. Last year you were the first who wanted to give, and you were the first to begin doing it. Now you should finish what you started. Let the eagerness you showed in the beginning be matched now by your giving. Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.”

For me, if God does something more than once I know I really need to pay attention! Seeing as I have been working on this project, rather the project and I have been growing together for over a year now, it was clear what God was telling me through these words. He was encouraging me to finish this project and to use all that He has provided me with to complete it in His will for His glory. I believe as I eagerly obey (which I am eager to do) that He will bless this project and His blessing is what I seek.

I was hoping to work with a full band again on this project. I had already been sharing demos with musicians so they could begin to get familiar with the songs. However, I believe God is changing the direction I was heading with this project. It seems He is showing me this is to be a solo album, me and the piano, something more simple and more intimate than a band can offer. This is not how I envisioned this project, but then again I have been praying for God’s vision for the project all along and for this I must be willing to lay down my own ideas. So in obedience and faith I am moving forward to complete this project in proportion to what I have and not what I don’t have.

The album has an intimate laid back feel to it with sweet jazz undertones throughout. My aim was to keep the recording simple and thus am doing it all ‘in house’. Literally -- recording it in my room -- just my keyboard, my laptop and myself. My hope is that this offers a sweet intimacy to the music.
